Periosteal fenestration: A single stage surgical procedure for root coverage along with vestibular deepening

چکیده
One of the most common mucoginigival problems are gingival recession with decreased width of attached gingiva and shallow vestibule. Many techniques have been employed till date to increase the width of attached gingiva and for root coverage. But in all these techniques multiple surgeries had to be performed to achieve predictable results. In such procedures, firstly the width of attached gingiva is increased followed by a second surgery in which root coverage is carried out. In order to avoid patient discomfort, reduce the number of surgeries as well the number of surgical sites and to reconstruct the lost periodontal tissues, newer methods of root coverage need to be employed. Hence, in this paper we have described a single stage surgical technique for increasing the width of attached gingiva and root coverage with the use of periosteal pedicle flap.

Periosteal Pedicle Flap Harvested during Vestibular Extension for Root Coverage
Root exposure along with inadequate vestibular depth is a common clinical finding. Treatment option includes many techniques to treat such defects for obtaining predictable root coverage. Normally, the vestibular depth is increased first followed by a second surgery for root coverage. The present case report describes a single-stage technique for vestibular extension and root coverage in a sing...
متن کاملA novel single-step surgical technique for vestibular deepening using laser in conjunction with periodontal flap surgery
Moderate-to-severe chronic periodontitis results in clinical loss of attachment, reduced width of attached gingiva (AG), periodontal pockets beyond mucogingival junction (MGJ), gingival recession, loss of alveolar bone, and decreased vestibular depth (VD). The encroachment of frenal and muscle attachments on marginal gingiva increases the rate of progression of periodontal pockets, prevents hea...
متن کاملA Bilateral Pediculated Palatal Periosteal Connective Tissue Flap for Coverage of Large Bone Grafts in the Anterior Maxillary Region
Introduction: Coverage of bone grafts is very important in reconstructive surgery. In edentulous alveolar ridges this coverage is particularly important for supporting dental prostheses. Here we present the case of a patient with a large deficient maxillary anterior region that was reconstructed with a bilateral palatal submucosal periosteal connective tissue flap: a soft tissue reserve for up...

AIM: This case report presents one such case which has been successfully treated using inversely placed periosteal pedicle graft. BACKGROUND: Various periodontal surgical procedures have evolved over time for obtaining complete root coverage of isolated single tooth miller’s class I and class II gingival recession defects. CASE DESCRIPTION: inversely placed Periosteal pedicle graft is a latest ...
متن کاملMultidisciplinary Treatment of a Fenestration-type Defect.
The case report aimed at treating a fenestration-type defect with multidisciplinary conventional and advanced surgical techniques. Fenestrations are isolated areas in which the exposed root surface is covered only by the periosteum and gingiva, but the remaining cortical bone remains intact. Root coverage is indicated in cases of root hypersensitivity, treatment of shallow caries lesions, cervi...
